Well, I'm pretty sure I didn't consent to being brought into existence, insofar as that even makes sense as a concept. In general, I think life has no universal, objective purpose; people ought to set their own goals and do what fulfills them personally. It's just that in my case, I get no sense of fulfillment from living. All the good things in life are like candy to me- tastes sweet, provides a momentary rush, but is ultimately unsatisfying.

Anyway, I don't mean to bore you with my personal story. I just take objection to labels like "cowardly" and "selfish"; I've known and loved several wonderful people who chose to end their own lives, and it hurts me that they will be remembered by some as being weak and self-centered, because I know that's far from the truth. But I can respect your opinion- it's certainly a popular one. Take care.

(My apologies if this gets attached to the wrong comment. I get confused about that sometimes.)

Jonathan, before you come into the conclusion that life itself is the problem, you need to first answer the fundamental question "what is the purpose of life?" Are you here by chance? Or are you "place" here without your consent, for a purpose?

Committing suicide because you're tired of existence isn't any more cowardly than taking antibiotics because you don't want to be sick. Would any doctor tell a patient to just "choose to live with" their disease- suck it up and quit being such a coward? Of course not. They'd do everything they could to make the patient's problem go away.

We all seek solutions to our problems. If life is the problem, death is the answer. Simple as that.

Though I see your point crazycarl, I would still stick to my viewpoint that suicidal is a coward act. Most problems can be fix. And to those that can't, we can always just choose to live with it.

And more importantly, you need to think about your loved ones. How are they going to take it?

I wish you well.
